Bringing Back the Joy of Building

InventShack was born from a simple idea: every kid deserves to turn their imagination into something real.

It Started at Radio Shack

If you grew up in the '80s or '90s, you probably remember walking into Radio Shack and feeling like you'd entered a wonderland. The 150-in-1 electronics kits. The bins of components. The feeling that you could build anything if you just had the right parts.

That experience — picking up a kit, opening the box, and building something that actually worked — shaped how we think about learning. It wasn't about following instructions perfectly. It was about the thrill of creation, the satisfaction of seeing something you built come to life.

We started InventShack because we wanted to give today's kids that same feeling. But instead of choosing from a shelf of pre-made kits, we asked: what if the kit was designed around their idea?

Kids Need to Build Things

Somewhere along the way, hands-on building got squeezed out. Screens replaced workbenches. Pre-assembled toys replaced kits. And the places where you could just browse components and dream — places like Radio Shack — disappeared.

Subscription boxes brought some of it back, but they're one-size-fits-all. Every kid gets the same project, whether they're into cars, robots, or catapults. The creative spark — the part where you decide what to build — gets skipped.

The Modern Radio Shack

InventShack is what Radio Shack would be if it were invented today. Instead of aisles of components, we have AI that understands engineering. Instead of a kit designed by someone else, you get a kit designed around your idea.

Tell our AI you want to build a rubber band car, and it designs one — with laser-cut birchwood panels, 3D-printed axle mounts, real screws and rubber bands, and step-by-step instructions your kid can follow. Every kit is unique because every kid's idea is unique.

And if you already have a 3D printer at home? Even better. Print the custom parts yourself, and we'll ship just the laser-cut wood and hardware you can't make at home. It's the ultimate companion for makers who want to build real things.

What We Believe

  • 1.Every kid is an inventor. They just need the right tools and materials to prove it.
  • 2.Building beats watching. Hands-on making teaches problem-solving, patience, and physics better than any video.
  • 3.AI should amplify creativity. Our AI doesn't replace your kid's imagination — it brings it to life.
  • 4.Custom beats generic. A kit designed for your idea is more exciting than one designed for everyone.
