How the $100 Build Kit Works

From AI design to a real, engineered kit at your door — in five straightforward steps.

1

Design Your Kit

Use the free Design Studio to describe your idea. The AI creates a complete kit with parts, hardware, and instructions.

2

Submit for Engineering

Happy with your design? Submit it for a $100 build kit. A real engineer reviews every detail for buildability.

3

Engineer Review

Our engineers validate dimensions, tolerances, hardware specs, and assembly sequence. If something won’t work, they redesign it.

4

Manufacturing

Approved designs go to production — birchwood laser cutting, PLA 3D printing, and hardware sorting. Every piece labeled and organized.

5

Shipped to Your Door

Everything arrives in one box, ready to build. Open it up, follow the instructions, and watch your invention come to life.

No risk: if we can't engineer a working kit, you don't pay.

Frequently Asked Questions

What if the engineer can’t make my design work?

You’re not charged. We only charge $100 when we can deliver a working, buildable kit. If the design can’t be engineered into a functional build, you get a full explanation of what would need to change.

How long does it take to receive my kit?

After submitting, engineering review takes 3–5 business days. Manufacturing and shipping add another 5–7 business days. Most kits arrive within 2 weeks of submission.

What ages are the kits designed for?

Kits can be designed for ages 5–13+. You set the age range when designing, and the AI adjusts complexity, part sizes, and safety considerations accordingly.

Can I sell my kit design?

Yes! Through our Inventor Program, your engineered kit gets listed on the InventShack marketplace. You earn a commission on every sale — we handle all manufacturing, shipping, and customer support.

What if I have my own 3D printer?

Great! Choose the DIY Maker Option. We’ll sell you just the laser-cut wood pieces and hardware packs, and provide the 3D print files so you can print the custom parts yourself.

What materials are used?

Laser-cut parts use 3mm birchwood. 3D-printed parts use PLA (plant-based, non-toxic). Hardware includes standard stainless steel screws, springs, and rubber bands — all kid-safe.
